Back in November I wrote about building Simple Warm Reminder for my father — a calm, glass-styled reminder app with just four big buttons. The idea was simple: help someone who forgets small household tasks without drowning them in lists and badges.
Version 3.0 is now live on the App Store, and it brings two updates I have been wanting to ship for a while: Dark Mode and 10 new European languages.
Dark Mode
If you use your phone at night — checking whether you set that stove reminder before bed, for example — a bright white screen is the last thing you want.
Simple Warm Reminder 3.0 adds a proper Dark Mode with deep, muted backgrounds that keep the glass-styled buttons readable without blasting your eyes.

You can choose between three appearance options in Settings:
- System — follows your iPhone’s current appearance automatically.
- Light — the original warm, cream-toned look.
- Dark — a deep charcoal background with softened card colors.
For my father, who sometimes checks his reminders late at night, the System option is ideal: bright and readable during the day, gentle on the eyes after sunset.
14 Languages
Simple Warm Reminder launched with four languages: English, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), and Japanese. Version 3.0 adds ten more:
| Language | Language |
|---|---|
| 🇩🇪 German | 🇵🇹 Portuguese |
| 🇫🇷 French | 🇳🇱 Dutch |
| 🇪🇸 Spanish | 🇵🇱 Polish |
| 🇮🇹 Italian | 🇸🇪 Swedish |
| 🇩🇰 Danish | 🇫🇮 Finnish |
The app now supports 14 languages in total. Every label, button, and notification is fully localized.
Why does this matter for a “tiny” app? Because the people who benefit most from simple software are often the ones least comfortable switching to English. If you are setting up this app for a parent or grandparent in Berlin or Barcelona, it should feel native from the first tap.
Accessibility
Version 3.0 also improves Dynamic Type support. The layout now adapts gracefully to larger text sizes on both iPhone and iPad, so users who need bigger fonts get a clean experience without clipped labels or broken buttons.
Still completely free
Everything in Simple Warm Reminder — including Dark Mode, all 14 languages, and Dynamic Type — is free. There are no paywalls, no subscriptions, and no ads.
If you find the app useful and want to support its continued development, there is an optional Tip Jar in Settings. That is the only way the app asks for money, and it is entirely up to you.
